Our Network

Our network is built for performance, resilience, and scalability. With a gigabit-capable fibre backbone, extensive peering, and carrier-grade infrastructure, we deliver ultra-fast, reliable connectivity across the UK and beyond.

Our High-Performance Network

Our network is built for speed, resilience, and scalability. With a gigabit-capable fibre backbone, extensive peering, and carrier-grade infrastructure, we deliver ultra-fast, reliable connectivity across the UK and beyond.

At Rocket Fibre, we operate a truly carrier-class IP network under AS8801, built from the ground up for performance, resilience, and scalability.

Our core network is powered by Juniper MX Series routers, renowned across the industry for their advanced feature set and high throughput. This is supported by a redundant Cisco Layer 2 switching fabric, delivering seamless availability and low-latency connectivity.

Premium Global Transit

We maintain upstream connections with a diverse set of Tier 1 providers, including:

Hurricane Electric Cogent TATA Communications RETN GTT NTT Zayo
This multi-homed approach ensures consistently fast, low-latency routes and exceptional resilience for all destinations worldwide.

Always-On DDoS Protection – Included as Standard

Security and uptime are non-negotiable. Our network is safeguarded by always-on DDoS protection, delivered through three on-site scrubbing centres powered by Corero, enabling real-time detection and mitigation of malicious traffic.

Unlike many providers that charge extra for DDoS protection or only act reactively, Rocket Fibre includes comprehensive mitigation as standard, at no extra cost. It’s one of the key ways we go above and beyond to deliver mission-critical reliability to every customer.

Rocket Fibre’s AS8801 network is purpose-built for the modern internet – scalable, secure, and designed to handle the demands of today’s data-driven businesses.
We peer extensively at all of our on-net locations, keeping traffic local wherever possible. This enhances route diversity, improves performance, and increases network resilience.

peering Policy

Rocket Fibre welcomes peering with networks that share a mutual interest in improving performance, resilience, and efficiency across the Internet. Our peering policy is selectively open, with criteria based on technical capability, operational discipline, and traffic volume.

Peering Overview

We maintain a pragmatic and scalable approach to peering. Our policy supports both public and private peering, depending on traffic levels, strategic alignment, and mutual benefit.

Traffic-Based Guidelines

Peering is evaluated based on sustained traffic volumes, growth potential, and balanced exchange of data. We prioritise connections that enhance performance and efficiency for both parties.

Physical Interconnect Standards

We require peering partners to connect at mutually agreed data centres or exchange points using high-quality, standards-compliant equipment to ensure reliability and stability.

Technical Requirements

Peering sessions must use BGP with correctly maintained prefix lists, route filters, and up-to-date contact information. We expect consistent availability and minimal packet loss.

Operational Expectations

Partners must respond to network issues promptly, maintain 24/7 NOC contact, and cooperate on troubleshooting to ensure optimal network health and user experience.

Multi-Exit Discriminators (MEDs)

We honour MEDs where applicable to manage routing preferences and balance traffic effectively, provided they are implemented consistently and without abuse.
